I´ve started my build with some old components that i´ve around here, resistors, caps, IC´s, diodes and it´s almost 50% done.
I must buy the missing componets but i can´t find some of them or they are quite expensive so, i need some advice to find some substitutes without compromising the sound quality.
Can anyone give me some tips about replacing the following components ?
-2n5088
-TL022
-MN3007
-MN3101
-RD11EB

Thanks.

Unless you want to change some things on/about the board itself, I'm afraid there is no substitute for the MN3007 and MN3101.  Some people are able to stumble onto "deals" for these, but in most instances the price you find is the price you will need to pay.  Expensive for a chip, but cheap compared to what you'd pay for a real CE-2.

The TL022 is helpful to the circuit but not critical.  You can probably substitute a TL062 or a 4558.  I built mine without a TL022 and it works just beautifully.  Rich chorus, no ticks or noise.

The 2N5088 can actually be a wide variety of medium-gain NPN transistors, so feel free to use what is easily available.  The only reason it is listed in the parts is that so many people already have them in their parts bins for building distortions and other high-gain effects, and because they are usually readily available.  In this case, the transistor is being used in essentially negligible-gain ways throughout the circuit, so you can feel free to use a lot of different devices.  Tell us what you have and we'll confirm whether it is appropriate or not.

The zener diode (D7 on the Tonepad doc) is not critical.  You can leave it out and still have a perfectly functioning chorus.  It's there for protection against "inappropriate" external power supplies.  As long as you behave yourself, you can afford to wait until a suitable zener falls into your hands.

Thanks for the tips.
Mark Hammer, i´ll not use inappropriate power supplies but i want to use the zener just in case... i have several zeners but wich one should i use ? I´ve never head of RD11EB !

Hi Samy,
Regarding D7 you can use Zener diode 11V / 0.5W or 12V /0.5W.
Best regards.
