How should a (good) overdriven waveform look in an oscilloscope screen?

Ok, after quite a few builds, the latest ones I'm doing I'm checking the signal at several points in my circuits with an oscilloscope. Normally I use a sinus wave.

I attempted to build a ROG Odie today, but the waveform didn't look very good. It wasn't symmetrical. The left half of the cycle looks nice, slightly "rounded" peak, but the right half looks almost square. Sonically, it has a fuzzy edge I don't like at all.

I've been tweaking the trimmers until the waveform was almost the ideal curve, sinus with rounded peaks and "valleys". When I have cheched this through the guitar, sound was much more pleasant but much less gain also......

Is there any website / article / thread about using oscilloscopes at making DIY pedals?
