Just for the heck of it I decided to give it a try. I thought that at this point I have built about a million fuzz face and varients and assumed this was just another but to my suprise it really stand out and sounds great with my set up. Instead of using a 2n3906 for q2 I used another germ. For q1 I had bought a trannny from steve at small bear a few years back and had another similiar in my stash. It really sounds great. It does border on the overdrive-ish / distortion sound than fuzz, but there is still that hint of fuzz to make the flavor great.

I built this one several yars ago, and I agree, that it has a real nice tone. I used the 2N3906 ,and an AC128 that someone gave me. It has a real nice fuzz, but it's not overwhelming like a Tone Bender or some of the other various fuzzes. I've always thought of it as more of the "Fuzz Face" type tone. If you're not getting as much fuzz as you would like you may have to go back to the 3906 in there to drive the germanium a little harder. It doesn't seem to make you loose the germanium tone. The only other fuzz I've built that has a similar tone, is Joe Davisson's Antiquity Fuzz. That's a very nice sounding circuit with the "Face" sound.

I etched a board for the Easy Face but have yet to build it. I've read nothing but good things about it, maybe it's time to give it a whirl.

Easy Face is a classic, one of the best Fuzz/OD's out there and minimal parts too :D

I also built it. I built the Easy Face version with the "blend" control. It's a great sounding fuzz that can get a lot of different tones. Also works equally well with humbuckers as well as single coils (although single coils sound very, very good with this fuzz).

I used single coil for this where as Ill have to try it using my humbuckers.

I built one of these a few weeks ago on breadboard and it's great.  I'm just waiting to order the enclosure before it goes into a box.  I replaced the bias trimmer with a 25k pot which will be external, nice for making all sorts of kinds of noises.  I also added a 5k pot in parallel right after the 9v positive input which sends the pedal into wacky oscillations.  Can't wait to get this into a box so i can step on it.

I might give that a try as well.
