I've been looking around for my 3rd project and I've noticed some of the one's I'd like are laid out on Vero board.  Being kind of new still, I've got to ask.  Is there a difference between Vero and Pad Per Hole?  Can you solder right to vero like you can PPH?  Is one easier to work with (especially for a new guy)?

Thanks.

Vero has all the holes in row connected horizontaly.  Can be hard to find locally (around here anyway) but Aron sells it in the STORE.  Vero layouts assume that the horizontal rows are connected - if you do a vero layout on perf/pad per hole you'll have to connect them yourself. 8)

Ah, okay.  That makes sense.  Thanks for the reply.

Cheers.

Although many of the circuits that people have done vero layouts for aren't all that complex in the first place (i.e., not enough to exaggerate vero-vs-PPH diffs), generally speaking pad-per-hole permits a smaller layout than vero does.  The PPH boards sold by Small Bear are really exceptional value for the money, and come pretinned, with decent legending, and mounting holes in the corners.  That may not be enough to offset the convenience of having a vero layout already available, but it can be a definite plus if you have to make something from scratch on your own or if you want to mod something beyond the existing posted layout.

BTW, welcome on "board".....so to speak. :icon_wink:
