Nevermind, I'm just going to buy the right stuff....guess I'll start next weekend...sigh :(

I have bunch of double sided boards at home, and I just etch the other side that I don't use and that's it...

In the end, looks like a single sided pcb.

I've used double sided board at times as well.
One thing you can do is lightly sand the side your not going to use and it will etch off faster.
Works well this way.

But that's a waste of a whole side of copper; why not use it for a ground plane? It makes your PCB layouts much easier.

::edit: I partially take that back; after some consideration, while it CAN be easier, in this case, without some way of getting the connections to the ground plane, it's probably more trouble than it's worth.  Still, with some care you could do two-sided boards.
Passive sucks.
