I just got in from seeing a buddy of mine play and was checking out his very sparse pedal setup.  He had the basics going, all BOSS, the tuner, a CH-3 and the old faithful DS-1.  But I noticed that the DS-1 had been modified with - of all things - a RCA jack sticking out of the top.  So I inquired and it turns out that it was a holdover from an older, two amp setup.

What he was able to do was use the electronic switching in the DS-1 to control the channel switching relay in his Peavey Classic combo.  His old setup consisted of a Fender amp that the DS-1 fed into and the Peavey.  When he hit the DS-1, the channel would also be flipped on the Peavey.  Really ingenious stuff.

However, I neglected to ask how he did his spiltting of signals to the two amps...

Still, one more point for BOSS.
Passive sucks.
