I cant help myself, i'm addicted to modding this wah   lol

my cousin heard it and he said it needed to be more "Wahy"

i guess he means it could use some more high end sweep...I'm thinking that as well.

here's my plans.

add a 3 band EQ that i saw here on the board
http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=42009.0
(anyone try that one out yet?)
and where would i put this in the pedal, im thinking inline by the instrument jack but I could be wrong...

and I'm also going to add a 6 position rotary switch to swap between 6 different sweep caps .

here's that switch.
http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=622336

Whats the best caps to use? (I'm thinking poly films)
And
What are some recommended ratings to use for those 6 spots?

Thanks.

If theres any other mods out there for wah pedals let me know as I want to try them all and probably will...

I will be reading the rest of this site.

Looks great, I'm thinking of using a flap disk on my grinder to remove all the black from my pedal and painting that whole base a metallic blue flake.

QuoteI'm thinking of using a flap disk on my grinder to remove all the black from my pedal and painting that whole base a metallic blue flake.

I used a palm sanded earlier on mine, used some jb weld for a few extra holes I had in it and no longer need, and pained it Rustoleum hammered gold. I also added another footswitch on the side in order to switch between 2 different inductors so I didnt have to bend over and switch it by hand.

Btw- The sanding part sucks! I used 60 grit paper and it was still a pita. I did take the whole damn thing apart and painted everywhere. Even repainted the inside area black.

no joke, i dont mess around with sanding anymore. i hate that process.

what i did was primer it with that GOOP stuff in the spray can, and then painted from there. super thick primer that stays on forever.

I found that most of the caps for a sweep mod are kind of useless. But, what I ended up with on mine are a .01uf, .015uf and .022uf metalfilm caps from digikey. metal film or polyester caps willwork here great also. I found that any lower than .022uf just becomes lost in a mix. Try putting a Arielfx halo in there also. These inductors are the BEST!!! in my opinion. Also put a 100K pot as a variable resistor mod or (vocal mod) if you haven't already.

Great idea with the pots in place of the resistors, i have 2 100k linears laying around, ill try installing that for the vocal resistor now

ok i swapped out the resistor for a 100k linear pot, although its working the audio taper would be much more controllable...I have to get some in stock.

heres a pic link

yep that one hole is a "1/2 oops" thats when you make an oops then call it something else, i call it the alert hole so when that blue smoke comes out i know it, and you just have to see some sparks when available   lol

anyways its working like a tone adjustment i think and its great.

just make sure the 3rd ans 2nd leg of the pot have a jumper and plus if you'd like u can leave one leg of the stock 33K resistor in place and one the other side of the leg to the second lug of the pot and then a wire from the 1st lug to the remaining hole where the 33K resistor was. This way if you tweak the pot all the way off it will stop at 33K instead of shutting off ur sound completely. Also u can put in a 1K pot where the 470ohm gain resistor is also to get a tweakable output.

moody07747

yea i have 1 on a wire and 2/3 connected on a 100k linear pot...its just changing within the first tiny turn but after that it just maxes out...i have to try my meter skills on it...what setting for resistance do you use for this type pot and what leads do you test?
