If I'm not overly concerned with an exact replica, would the rat shack transformer (#273...) that Gus Smalley's oct up box uses be OK with the thycobra???

Just wanted to make one and I have a rat shack 1 block away...

thanks!

Afraid not. The Tycho transformer has a 500 ohm primary, and 1.5K secondary, where the Radio Shack 273-1380 has a 1K primary and an 8 ohm secondary. Just an FYI, the 273-1380, is usually used backwards in the up octave circuits ( Bobtavia, NeOctavia, and Simple Octave Up) so it can be a step up transformer. Due to the low current, you can get by with it in effect circuits. You'll probably like the sound of all 3 of these better than the Tycho.  Simple Octave Up is a fire breather BTW.
