Doubling stomp box with clean signal

Is it possible to mix an effects signal with a clean signal?

This is what i want to do, in my opinion distortion with chorus sounds really awesome to back a guitar, like iron maiden-y, but it's not really attacky enough to be used on it's own, so basically i want to have it so that the distorted solo kind of sound is layered on top of the chorus sound, would it be possible to do this? i'd then run it through amps distortion.
