i have asilly qustion to make  :icon_redface: and hope u will be kind and reply. if i have a 9V ac to dc adaptor can i just connect it to the battery cables of my pedals and work ok or should i put a cap or something else before? i ask this coz i made it once and a funny smell came out of the resistors i guess so i unplugged it immediately and saved the circuit. pls if u can bother answer me. thanx a lot

You 'can'...if everything is 'right'...hard to tell exactly the wiring scheme you're referring to.
If the WW is putting out measured DC voltage which is less than the electrolytics, IC's etc. are rated for, and polarity is correct...
IIU your question, it is about simply using DC WW to Bat Clip/Bat Clip to effect...polarity observed, this should connect power correctly if correct.
The cap you mention may help to filter out PS Ripple, I routinely add a 'BFFCap' [Big Freakin' Filter cap in the order of 100uf/16v or larger] across the rails [V+/V-] with the - of the cap to the - of the PS, + to +.

thanx a lot pete. ur helping me big time and i dont know how to get back to u! hope i will someday though :). take care!

yes hubble. i just wasnt sure that it can be ok with the ambers ech. thanx a lot

they also make battery snap adapters for power supplys, i dont know if it works on all 9v supplys but check musiciansfriend

found it: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Godlyke-PowerAll-System-Battery-Clip-Jumper-Cable?sku=331506

thanx a lot. might make some for my pedals. ;)

  I read again and...
An adapter...it's a good idea to test the Actual voltage and whether it's AC or DC output [if you're not certain] of it's output with a DMM.
i ask this coz i made it once and a funny smell came out of the resistors i guess so i unplugged it immediately and saved the circuit
it's best to get to know PS's, but I'll try to think of what to type here..
stompboxes must be the same polarity [*usually NPN Neg Gnd.] of course to share power supply.  Mixing polarities of course connects V+ to V-, don't ask how I know.
'9V ac' to dc ...er 9Vdc adapter?
Some adapters say AC, AC adapters may have a dashes line over a solid line, [after the output voltage#]instead of just the letters AC.
DC adapters may say DC or have two horizontal solid lines after the
   Voltage...
  It's say something like:
  Input 120VAC
  Output 9VDC
Of course you want 9VDC supply to the pedals, or some other known value.
How a good connection is made doesn't really matter except for aesthetics/ease of use.
If your box is grounded, depending on the DC jack used, etc., attention to proper wiring is necessary for function without shorts. Any/all testing that can be done with the DMM to veryfy what's what' with the wiring adheres strictly to a scematic, and that there are no 'anomolous' connections that may have inadvertantly occured [like a connection between V+/V- under any PS jack and battery switching conditions [or plan] is recommended Before supplying power.

sorry pete! such an idiot i am. didnt type that right. wanted to say 220V ac to 9V dc adapter. sorry that i put u in trouble.
