Ha  Dutch  Elm  disease,  I like  it.....

If  you  do  that  again ,  try the dark grain lines UNDER   a lighter  coat  of  paint that  will  let  them  show  thru,  and  put some  smaller  grain  dots  between  to  extend  the  illusion...  in  fact  if  you  want  to  gut  that  one  you  could  still  do  that....

the other control says "sudden oak death"

It's on my to do list.  and thank you for the tips.
Try a little tenderness.

White  primer > Kona brown (coffe color- looks  more  correct than black) for the grain > Reranch Butterscotch nitro for  the color > nitro topcoat > handlettered

of  course  after  its all  nice  and  done ,  you can  then  'relic'  it  too  !!!  and  make  it  look  old  and  worn  like the  guitar  guys  do   ;)

Here are a couple I've been working on. Real wood of course.
Pomello Bubinga for the reddish one and Pomello Sapel for the other.
These aren't finished yet but you can see what they will look like.

The cool thing is when I start to work on an amp made out of similar wood. I'll be making a head and two cabinets...

Beautiful  work  sir !!!

(but  using  real  wood  is  too easy ;D)

Almost done with the larger box. Now just to trouble shoot my PCB that isn't right somehow!!!
These boxes look better in real life, I'll get some better photos of them soon.
