I have what I hope is a straightforward question, but who knows.

I wish to run a Boss DS-1 continuously with an 18v supply.  Why?  It sounds quite nice, the "squishiness" normally associated with the attack on these pedals is substantially diminished.

Does anyone happen to know which components I would need to replace in the DS-1 to avoid causing damage?

I'm no expert on the DS-1 but I do know that some Boss pedals use 10v caps. You might want to go through the pedal to make sure the caps can handle the voltage and replace where needed. There maybe be other changes needed that I have not mentioned.

I can't say whether or not the circuit will still work well w/ 18 V, but I can tell you that the most critical thing to upgrade is your electrolytic caps to 25 V. You should also check the data sheets on the DS-1 semiconductors to make sure they can handle 18 V.

HI,

Are you the guy who does all the cool MP3 posts? If so, send me your DS1 for our PRO
mod and I'll make sure it's OK for 18V, no charge if you get us some cool sound clips.

Mike,

Thanks a bunch.  You can bet I'll take you up on that.  I'll dispatch a DS-1 in your general direction forthwith.
