Has anyone successfully built Tim escobedo's psyctar using torchy's layout. Had a quick bash at making on ethe other day with no success. I did add the track cuts on the transformer but no sound what so ever. Is the MPSA13 meant to be upside down ebc, rather than cbe?

Also feeling rather embarressed but how do you wire the switch up I used a DPDT but obviousley it has more lugs than just A A and B B ?

Cheers for any help you can give

Hi Austin,

Check here and the links from here for the switch wiring: http://www.diystompboxes.com/cnews/FAQ.html

The transistor looks fine to me, did u use a socket for it?

Austin73

Hi Alteredsounds cheers for coming over and helping,

I already looked at the switching link you gave and it only has switching for bypass which I'm good with just can't get my head round the switching o0n this board ~(the joy of a young baby and night shifts!)

I don't socket my transistors, I know I should but I never have much success when I try so I just bang them in. Will have another bash at teh board tomorrow but just wanted some friendly help and advice

Mine worked fine as the layout. Switch is wired like this ...

Austin73

Torchy your a star!

Cheers for that so everything else is ok? did I have to cut traces underneath the transformer? That and the switch are the only different things I did, will let you know how I get on tomorrow but feeling more confident know!

P.S Don't suppose you fancy doing either the PWM or Simple Square Wave Made Simpler do you? ha ah

Torchy

Yes the trace cuts under the transformer are required. I'll send Brian the updated layout.

Austin73

Cheers Torchy will have another bash at this sucker later this evening and let you know how I get on, I must have done something stupidly simple.

Austin

P.S Did you think anymore about doing PWM or SSWMS or maybe a Jawari layout? Cheeky I know but just not got the experience to make small layouts yet.

Hey Torchy, just made a completely new Psyctar but still not working. Do you have any voltages that I might be able to work from. My latest one seemed to burn itself out about 2 seconds after turning it on (the led seems to flicker then thats it!) When I get the DMM out I can't get a voltage passed C1 the 22uF cap mine are 50 Volt and are in the right orientation.

Any help either from your self or any body else would be gratefull recieved as I 'm fed up of making fuzz and distortion boxes! lol

Sorry, I ripped out the transformer for something else and I think I binned the board. I think a few other people on the forum built this (definitely two) so maybe they could help. You did notice the transistor is fitted with the emitter at the top I suppose ?

Austin73

yeah was one of the first things I checked, with a DMM to get the right pin out. Not sure where else to look on the project so might start to socket all the components to see if I can work it out but at moment I'm well stuck.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Torchy I really appreciate that
