The NYS229 and 230 have been suggested. What are the most commonly wanted plasttic body numbers? Pls bear in mind that I have to limit the number of types I carry so that I can buy as many as possible of each one. As always, thanks for your suggestions!

I'm currently using NYS216 (Stereo plastic PCB mount).

They are cool, but I don't know how many people uses pcb mounts as it's more difficult to get the pcb and box layouts done.

I think the most useful plastic type for me would be a stereo 1/4" jack PCB mount with this plastic nut that allows removal of the PCB without unsoldering the jack.  Like here: http://www.elixant.com/~stompbox/smfforum/index.php?topic=40456.0

The jacks are Neutriks from mouser, part number is NMJ6HCD3.  For me, THAT would rock!

Regards.

I'd like to use the ones soggybag uses on his 1590B boards:

Maybe we're talking about the same ones?

Those boards are an awesome idea - Thanks soggy! How about a 1590BB one too!

Maybe you and soggybag could get together and distribute those boards as well?

ok,

Let me check...

Yep, they're the same connectors!

And those prefab PCBs with jacks, stomp switch and power conn and box would be great in kit form for both 1590B and 1590BB sizes!

I think Steve should carry these jacks also. I like these better than the ones with the threaded end and plastic nut.

I have a design for a BB sized PCB I just haven't gotten around to having it made. The manufacture costs are high and I still some of the smaller boards left. I want to run out the small boards first before trying out something new.

Speaking of which I still have some of the B sized boards left which I will ship for free in the US. Send me an email or PM if interested.

Yeah, I like these ones (pictured above, twice) too. I just bought another 20 of them from Mouser, as it happens. In addition to my Obsidian (above), I've recently done a Blackfire, Ross Phaser, Shocktave and Tonepad CE-2 Chorus(in progress) using these jacks and pcb-mounted 3pdts. I really like this construction method, and once you get the hang of it, it's really not hard. Trickiest bit is the PCB layouts. That and picking some kind of design for the top...

I've been using the slim-line version for a few years, and that's what I used for the SuperSimpleSwitcher  http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=211&Itemid=236 project to reduce offboard wiring in a smaller package. From Mouser's catalog, they are either NRJ6HF or NRJ6HF-1.

soggybag

I like the NRJ6HF jacks, but they have threads that need to extend outside of the case. These would work well for projects with the jacks all on one side. If the jacks are opposite each other these jacks make it impossible to get you PCB in the case.

NMJ6HCD3 doesn't show up in a Mouser search...NMJ6HCD2 does...??

DavidS

the 2 and 3 suffixes don't indicate the number of signals as one might guess. they seem to be more arbitrary. The NMJ6HCD2 is the one from the pics, and the 6 indicates the number of pins.

OK, after looking at Neutrik's website, as far as I can tell, hte NJM6HCD3 is the same thing, it just doesn't include the chrome nut thingie.

i've wanted to use the open-framed metal jacks from Neutrik for years, but every time i order them, they don't come in.  Neutrik is notorious for not shipping stuff, or substituting part numbers in a pinch.

The Mouser nmj6hcd2's are mega hot.  If you can go lower than mouser's $1, I am down.  A no-name equivalent would be just as good.  MXR uses this type of jack.

I use the ones with the chromed nuts, but the last time, I bought the ones with the black plastic nut (NYS216) because they didn't have any of the chromed ones in stock.

I paid $1.26 CAD for the NYS216

I just used another of these jacks for one of my projects, the one with the chromed nut. It's the NYS215 model and I paid $1.56 CAD for it.

This one and the NYS216 are the 2 pcb models that I like to use.

The other model that I use is the model NYS234

Compact, plastic enclosed. You can put pots and switches right on top of these.

Stereo for input jack power switching.

Four pointed studs that dig into the enclosure when you tighten the nut; good for ground connections.
