Did resistors cause this drop in volume? (Amp)

Hey guys. Ive been asking all around on this, i know this is a STOMP BOX forum, but, i know you guys know your stuff, and when its playing with expensive amps, (that yoU NEED and cant afford the techs outrageous prices) its nice to get a straight answer (though these problems have taught me a great amount)

Anyways, im trying to perform some repairs on my carvinX100B

What happened was, some one busted my volume pot, and rendered the thing useless. Upon opening it, i found some output resistors burnt to a crisp. They were supposed to be 470K, 2W,(based on schematic) but what was in there was 470K, but based on the size maybe 1/2 watt.

So i get some new ones, soldered em in alright. Finally got my pot in the mail...for the life of me, could not get the old one out

So i took it to the amp tech. Guy replaced the pot in an hour. SWEET! So i thought..

I get the amp home, plug it in, turn it on. nothing blows up. Awesome. SO i go to crank it up. Yea that didnt happen. It goes to about 5 and clips. This thing has no volume at all! any of you who are familliar with carvins, you know, these things pack one mean punch, and mine has a hard time competing with a 15watt ibanez practice amp.

Now, yes, im sure my ohm settings are correct. My power settings , even at 100% just dont work any louder. Ive swapped power tubes, preamp tubes, cables, etc all of it.

Anyone? Ive read several places that sounds like a dying output transformer/bad filter caps. my filter caps look new (its a second hand amp)

Also, the resistors i put in where physically bigger than the other ones, but still rated at 470K, just a higher wattage. (Newb questions)  i know you can up the wattage and be safe, but could that be hindering me here?

If anyone cares as far as to read the schematics, theyre here:

I swapped R113-R117

Carvin X100b , i beleive its the H3 model. every schematic i read, not one is identical to mine...one says 1w resistor, another 2w, another, at a completely different rating. Any help is very appreciated. All my modded pedals (that i learned from here) Ive only been able to test on my ibanez TSR15 watt practice amp. You can imagine what a world of difference this is!

Thanks for your time guys. Someday ill be able to contribute

I'm not knowledgable enough to help you troubleshoot but you might want to check out the AMPAGE link up top.  There's a amp repair and troubleshootin section.  IMHO you should swallow the pill however $our and bring it to a qualified amp repair tech.  Amps are potentially LETHAL and jumping in with a soldering iron can in the worst case scenario KILL you.  You may also cause more damage to it than it had beforehand.  Anyhow, if your bent on doing the work yourself the guys at ampage are going to be more into the amp thing.  Be safe, good luck.

do you mean this schematic

Is so R113 is 470 ohm not 470K ohm, I don't know anything about amps but I guess this might make quite a difference.

Hey guys,

Slacker, someone pionted this out to me over at HC. All i can say is thanks lol. I can honestly see how i made this mistake. My eyesight is crap, and all was going well...im not surprised a made such a stupid/simple mistake. But yes 470k is awfully high and robbing my tubes of output power.

Thanks again!
