BSIABII different fets soundclip

Hi!
I've built two of this great curcuit.
In the soundclip, the first part is a box with two 2N5485 in the input stage the rest is J201:s. The second part is a box with J201:s only.
Wich one would be your choise?

Doesn't sound to be any real difference, except you played a tiny bit better on the first one. So id say the first one.

I think the second half with all j201's sounds better, although I used three 2n5457's and two j201's and it sounds close to your all j201 clip. Great song to use BTW.

Well it seems tighter in the bas while adding something to the hights. Or are we talking about my poor playing

The first thing I noticed when firing these circuits up was the amount of gain in the all J201 pedal. I never go over 70% on the drive knob.

Hmmmm... bery, bery intersting!  They both sound pretty good but I prefer the all 201 - it has more bite.

FYI, there is an NTE458 Jfet that generally has more gain than the J201 and has a little different sound, if your interested in another option.
