Here's a soundclip that I did using a "frankenstrat" that I built, a BOSS chorus that I modified, a DOD 250 clone that I built, and two amps that I modified.  Next week I hope to get my hands on a boost pedal that was built by a guy who built pedals for Ritchie Blackmore.  I'll let everyone know what I dig up on that pedal.  Anyway, listen to my clip (it's listed under my name, Joe Hart), and let me know what you think.  Thanks.

No one has any comments on my tone at all?  I was pretty happy with my sound... I guess it wasn't as happening as I thought.

That is a really good sound. Guess I have to check out the OD250/dist + soon....

Decent sound.

I clicked on a couple of others to hear what they sounded like, and to my surprise all the samples play concurrently.  If you've ever wanted to hear a realistic simulation of what a music store sounds like on a Saturday morning, go to the site, find as many of the contributors with one star (or less) as you can and click on all of them. :icon_lol:

Hey Joe,

I agree, good tone !  The key to nailing the Blackmore tone is to leave the DS-1 or any other distortion out of the signal chain and just turn up the amp and use a booster or a mild OD.  The week 2 band version, Tribute, has good tone as well.   I loved the vocals in The Reach(live) just below but found the guitar solo to be among the worst I've heard.

My boss walked into the office with I was playing some of these, really caught me off guard :icon_lol:

I never did like my Distortion +... it had a blatty, farty breakup to it that completely ruined my sound.

i might have to build a new one, see if i can't get some better sounds out of it...

Hmm, interesting. One wonders whether the guitar is a major influence with these things. Works very good for me, maybe the diodes you use affects it greatly.

Thank you, folks!  I find that a Distortion+ is cool sometimes and with some amps and some guitars, but the 250 I like all the time!  I just leave the gain a little more than halfway up, and the level adjusted to taste (usually full on).  It really tightens up the sound and gives it a little bit of "sparkle" (if that makes sense).
