Changing oranges into apples...

hi all, i just finished a TS from Tonepad (i'm a BD-2/Twin Rev user, and i tried a TS lying around at my rehearsal place, i didn't like it much, it sounded like an underfed fizzy mid-booster) so while doing the tonepad TS, i included some mods (the ones on the Keeley website) and the result was a lot better than the stock TS-9 i tried at my local... after playing for some time with my TS, i had a bad surprise when i tried the BD-2 again... it sounded so fuzzy! althought the bass response was better on the BD, the overall volume was a lot stronger, and the BD is more transparent to pickup changes (neck or bridge PU switching doesn't change the tone much on the TS... it's very obvious on teh BD, more like when plugged straight into the amp) but i liked the "more driven-less fuzzy" sound of the TS

i'd like the TS to have more bass (changing the cap that was .047 to a .1 helped but i guess putting a .47 would do the job... i changed the 4k7 to the 2k4, would i need to change this again if i change the cap?)

and i would like my TS to have even more drive (i already changed the 51k to 20k)
and about the drive, i used three 1S1588 diodes (assym) with the TS-808 resistor values would Ge or 914's solve this?

am i trying to change oranges into apples?

i guess both those pedals aren't very good at bedroom volumes and the come alive at cranked up amp volumes...

Sorry for luring you into this tread without using "TS" in the title...  :icon_twisted:

thanks! i haven't seen this before... i guess i'll experiment a little... although anything relted to diodes sounds like black magic...  :icon_neutral:

i'll also try a 1 Meg pot for more drive, since they're available in 16mm...  anyone tried this?...

I'm not a huge fan of a "high gain TS" , 0.1/2k2 is far enough for me, with one 1N4148
and one 1N4001 diode.
I like the 220n tantalums as poly's also, the one between pin 1&5 ( to ground )as a 68n instead too.
It gets a little brighter then.
