I know everybody and thier brother already built this pedal but since I perf board everything I avoided larger projects.  I've been wanting a Univibe type effect for a while now and finally built a Phase 45 w\Univibe mods, and it sounds great.  I wanted a phaser and Univibe separate from each other and decided to build the Easyvibe.  I only had one debug problem and fixed it and it works great.  When I first started building DIY's I spotted the John Hollis drawing of the Easyvibe.  But since LED\LDR's scared the heck out of me at the time and the fact that the schem was hand drawn I avoided the circuit.  After reading so many good things from others who built it and my perf boarding skills are more advanced now I went for it.  Wow!!!  I really love this pedal.  Since other phasers like the Small Stone and Phase 90 and Ross are more complicated with larger parts count I avoided these.  What's nice about the EZvibe is there are no parts in it that I couldn't buy a Rat Shack.  I can't believe such a nice phaser could be made without (HTMO Have to mail order parts).  I'm really excited about adding this to my rig.

Hi oldrocker, how do the easy vibe and "vibed" phase 45 sounds compare. I only have the "vibed" phase 45, and while it sounds really great, I am curious at how it stacks up to the easy vibe.  I also am intimidated by the thought of perfing that circuit. Did you use the R.Shack led's and the opto variety pack to make your own led/ldr assembly? Pictures would be great and the layout you used would be even better.

I second that!  ;D Pics please! Anyone done a vero layout?

I think the Easyvibe and Phase 45 w\Univibe mods sound similar.  The EZvibe is a four stage phaser compared to the P-45 two stage phase so the EZ has a stronger effect for vibing (if that's a word) and a more pronounced detuned warble.  But all in all the two effects are both excellent and sound similar.  On the John Hollis site he describes mods to the EZ that would turn it into a EH Small Stone using a feedback circuit and switching caps in the stages using a switch.
Yes I went to Radio Shack and bought the LED multi colored variety pack (2 packs and used the large red LED's) and also the LDR variety pack (2 packs and used the small headed ones so they fit in the shrink tube easier).  If you can build a P-45 w/vibe mods on perf than you'll be able to build a EZvibe because the level of difficulty is the same IMO.  I didn't use the 2 quad op amps (TL064).  I used 4 duel op amps.  I used two TL072's and two TL082's just because it's what I had laying around.
As for Vero, I have never used it but I think there might be a layout for it somewhere.  I never use layouts.  I build effects laying it out in my head as I build it.  As you can see from the pic neat is not my middle name.  I hope it helps a little.  I'll search around and keep an eye out for a vero layout and post you where I found it if there is one.  Good luck if you decide to go for it.  I'll try and answer any questions if I can.

Thanks, you already helped. Thanks for the pic also.

Yeh, I can see your wiring method. Have you had a chance to compare it to a real univibe, or the phase 90 + univobe mods? Anyone else.

After doing a PCB layout, Ive just been handed a load of veroboard. Doh! Oh well, something for me to do...
