Tube Driver Noise?

I was trying out my old DIY tube driver and there was a quiet squeal that slowly got louder until I finally unplugged it.  Is this the sound that it would make if the TL072 IC fizzled out and was slowly dying?

I just replaced the IC and will try it out this weekend.
The tubes are all still fine!  I have a select knob for 3 different preamp tubes:6sn7, 12axa7, can't remember the last one.
