Ok guys.  So I am in the process of building something and I cant seem to get the MOSfet I need in stores around here.  I need the BS170P MOSfet.  I bought a IRF510 Power MOSfet because that was all RadioShack had.  Will this work in place?  Any substitutes for the BS170P?  Would a JFET, FET, or regular Transistor work in this place?  Help please!  ;D

Oh yea and by the way, I bought my first multimeter today! haha yea.  Whatever, you all have them all ready... :icon_redface:

2N7000 can be used in place of a BS170.

Hmmm so 2N7000s?  Ok, at the moment, I have these transistors:
BC338
BC547
BC548
BC549
BC327
BC337
BC107
C9012
C1815
C9013
2N2222
2N2907
2N5088
2N3904

Would any of those work?

pbrommer

Nope. Those are transistors. PM me and I can send you extras that I have.

Ahh yes,
The BS170 should be in every DIYer's parts bin!

YES, they're ALL transistors...
Passive sucks.
