Ok I finished my Dr. Boogey with the correct caps this time and MAN! This thing SCREAMS! Although it works and sounds right, I still have a couple questions...

1. On the layout (http://www.4thlevelmedia.com/DrBoogeyPartsLayout.gif) are the pots shown with the knob stem sticking towards you or the bottom of the pot sticking towards you? I wired it thinking that the pot stems were sticking towards me and now i'm not sure if all of my pots are wired backwards.

2. I'm having a bit of trouble with the gain knob. When turned all the way to either side the sound cuts completely. It may be because I may have biased the transistors incorrectly since I cant tell if the pot is wired backwards or not.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys.

Josh :)

how do you mean, not sure it they are backwards??? Try volume pot

Sorry.

I am officially dumb.

Any ideas on the gain pot?

Seljer

well the gain pot does silent the pedal when turned to the minimal setting (as its just wired as a volume control after the first gain stage)

no idea about the other way though, sounds like it may be a bad pot

I figured that the gain control would silence the pedal when turned completely down. After a few minutes of tinkering I realized that in my foolishness I mis-wired the pot causing it to achieve its peak setting in the middle and silence when turned completely either way. A simple wire swap from lug to lug should fix it.

The pain in my ass is going to be re-wiring all the pots the opposite way they are right now. Seems that I also misread the layout sheet and wired them backwards - turning them to the left turns them up and to the right is down!

Anyway, once I get the gain knob wired correctly I should be able to bias the FETs no problem, then I can get to work on the enclosure!  :icon_biggrin:

Bucksears

On all of the Parts Layout diagrams for the PCBs that I have done (including the Dr. Boogey at my site), the pots are shown from the bottom; the tabs should be 3-2-1 going from Left to Right.

Hope this helps,
