I must have something wrong, but I am getting only a touch of distortion on loud notes and then the note sustains but does not distort. I am very frustrated. I have used torchy's layout ( link is currently un available) and have used all J201's except in Q 2 where i used a NTE 451( Mpf102 ).

Does a cap listed as 2n2 mean.0022?

My electrolytics are both in correctly, my soldering is fairly clean and I have inspected for any accidental connections with a magnifying glass. Maybe I have a wrong sized cap in somewhere. It would be easy for me to do since the values are listed in uF, nF and pF. I wish they were all the same it makes it hard to decipher. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

My reading are as follows
     Q1                                    Q2                                        Q3                                      Q4                                                   Q5
  D - 7.8v                              D - 10.5v                                 D - 6v                                   D - 10.5v                                           D - 6.5v
  S - .7v                                S - 7.8v                                   S - .7v                                  S - 6.1v                                             S - 384 mv
  G - 10 mv                            G - 5.0v                                   G - .5mv                               G- 5.0v                                              G -  0

To convert from N to UF - move the decimal three places to the left - so yes it is .0022uf

An NTE 451 has a different pinout out than a J201 you must use one or another one of the correct pinout...Look up NTE web page and you will see for the difference......That is your problem I am sure.....Notice the gate is the middle pin and not on a J201...FIX IT MAN That is it!!!

I just checked on the pin outs and they both are D-S-G flat side up. Am I missing something
