Well, I finally finished my Schaller Bow Wow Yoy Yoy clone today. I had a couple of mistakes on my PCB which I have corrected. It sounds pretty cool, but I'm not sure that it's all that it could be. I think I need to try a couple of Fasels in it for a little better Q.

I'm not sure about the pot, either. I currently have a reverse log pot in it (thanks puretube for those pots!). It's supposed to be a reverse log according to the schematic, but I think that a regular taper might actually sound better. Am I thinking that it should sound like a CryBaby and it really doesn't sound like that?

Anyhow, I designed a PCB that can drop right into a CryBaby shell. Same size as the GCB95 PCB, and with the same sort of input/output jacks. http://www.diyguitarist.com/PDF_Files/BowWowYoyYoy-Revised.pdf

Here's a few pictures:

Looks cool! I've never heard of the thing, but if it is supposed to sound like a Crybaby, why bother?  :icon_razz:

Do you have a schematic I could look at? What is it supposed to sound like?

Real nice work Paul! It looks like it came that way. For some reason, I always assumed it was supposed to have sort of a Gargletron reverse wha/talking type sound. I'm sure someone out there has had one of these, and will be able to chime in on what it's supposed to sound like. There has been several pedals I've made, that I'm not sure anyone else has made, just because it was a mystery like this one, and I was curious about what it would sound like. Some have been decent, and some have been duds, but at least you get it answered for yourself, and also give the forumites a heads up at the same time. Hopefully, you'll get some more information from a previous owner, or someone who knew someone, who had an original that they got to hear.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I can't find the schematic I used to build it right at the moment, but I'll keep looking. It's not just another CryBaby circuit, BTW.  :icon_wink:

I don't know where to find a soundclip, but here's what you do in the meantime.  Poke the tip of your tongue over your lower teeth hard into the underside of your lower lip.  Now tighten your throat muscles like you're trying to burst a blood vessel in your forehead, and say "wah-wah-wah".  Okay, now relax your throat, put your tongue where you feel most comfortable, and say "wah-wah-wah" again.  That's very close to the difference between the two settings.

Thanks Mark, someone just sent me an email with a soundclip. I will check it out when I get home tonight. I think it probably sounds like it's supposed to, I'm just used to something a little more resonant. In any case, it's still a cool sound.

I'm not sure who drew this originally, but here is the schematic for anyone who is interested.

im definitely going to build one in a couple of days. great job!
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Thanks thebattleofmidway. I just thought up a mod for this circuit that could make it essentially a CryBaby circuit. The core of the circuit is essentially very close to the CryBaby circuit, and with a 3PDT switch, you might be able to run some wires around, break three connections and add a cap to accomplish that. I'm tempted to build another PCB just to try that idea out. I can scan in my sketch to show y'all, if you're interested...  :icon_cool:

I scanned in the schematic with my proposed mod. I'm not sure that it would sound just like a CryBaby, but it should sound similar, I would think.
