Photo-Couplers?

I found these at my local surplus store and can't figure out what the heck they are...  They were in the 'photocoupler' bin...
Any idea what they are and if they can be used in something like the Trem Lune?

The trimpot in the trem lune should allow you to use prettymuch any LDR in there
