Shaka Tube Questions

I'm interested in the Shaka Tube and have a few questions first before I build it.

I'll be working off this schematic http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/schems/shaktbe.gif. I plan to build the power supply section and the actual effect circuit on two seperate veroboards.

1) What amperage should my 12Volt AC PSU be capable of delivering for this circuit?
2) Which pots are audio and which are linear?  Drive/Tone/Bias = Lin  and  Volume = Audio?
3) What wattage are the resistors? I see that the 10ohm directly on the AC is 1 watt. Will 250mW be ok for the rest?
4) I don't have a TL072 knocking around. I assume an NE5532 will be fine?
5) I don't have a 12AX7. I do have a 12AU7 and 12AT7. Will the effect work but just give less distortion?
6) How long does it take for the tubes to warm up?
7) If I back off on the drive is there any clean sound? Adding a bit of clean tube tone would be nice sometimes

Thanks!

PS anyone got a premade verolayout?

1) anything above 0.5A will be fine
2) I think so
3) yes, but I'd use metal film resistors
4) why not, watch for pinout when you swap ICs
5) they have less gain, AU has 30, AT 60 and AX has 100. Try 12AT7 for starters but you should get 12AX7
6) about 30sec
7) I suppose

Cheers

Thanks bancika :)

If I up the drive pot to 220k or 500k it should push up the signal going into the first stage of the tube right?

I'm not sure, maybe you could try to reduce grid resistors (10K) and increase plate resistors (100K) to compensate less gain with 12AT7. But I wouldn't use 12AU7 there at all...just my 2c :)

I doubt this circuit would really be practical on vero...but there's a PCB layout at diyguitarist.com

http://www.diyguitarist.com/DIYStompboxes/ST1590BB.htm

look at the bottom of the page for PCB layouts.

And I know someone's already said this, but make sure to check the pinouts if you're going to swap out opamps.

I built mine on perfboard. It was pretty easy I remember.
