Hi all,

A new product from Neutrik has given me great satisfaction.
The " Silent Plug " is  a terrific invention. When I'm experimenting  with lots of different stompboxes I don't bother to switch  my amps ( two for a stereo)  to standby or turn down the volumes but just take out the jackplug which results in a big explosion of sound , depends on how loud your amp is set of course .
With these silent plugs everything remains completely quiet . This is also great if you switch guitars.
I'm very thrilled about this new plug, maybe you are too !!
Thought you should know.

I took one in my hands last week when I checked for some other Neutrik connectors. I was wondering if they worked well.

Thanks for the answer. Neutrik is my fav brand of connectors...

I got a sample of the Silent Plug last year from my Neutrik rep.  Great stuff - as to be expected!  I've bought a bunch since and "evangelized" them to local players and friends.

The Neutric Silent Plug is new but there have been switching "silent plugs"  for a lot of years.
Neutric just modified the idea a bit. A good idea made better. They make good quality parts for sure!

any use for them around here?...lol
EZ sell...try one as last cable of pedalboard..remember to use it to defeat signal right before you're about to 'bapp' your amp/speakers again with an input spike, if you don't like it, change it., and continue to 'bapp' along or use deep knee bends and hit the amps stanby switch.
It'd make sense and I guess they ground the signal path???

You know what? A funny thing happened to me.

Today I bought a Neutrik Silent Plug. Nice plug. I just love it.

The funny thing is that when you mentioned it, I thought it was the one I saw last week. Big mistake. The one I saw must have been the Switchcraft, or another looking like it.

I remembered the plug having a kind of moving rod. But the Neutrik has a metal ring all around the plug. I prefer that last one...

the press release says it uses"hermetically-sealed"  "reed technology."

magnetic reed switches are actuated by magnets coming into proximity with them... with gold-plated contacts on the reed switch and an actuator that is magnetic, this type of plug should work for a lifetime.
