Thanks Mark, I'll give this a try.

Got mine working and it sounds like the clip, instant gratification :)

It didn't have any noticable effect. I hooked a 1k pot across the 2k2 resistor and hooked lug 2 to the positive side of the 10uf cap.  It made no difference hooked up or not.
I'm just going to box it up as is.
