I posted this question yesterday and I did not see it in the forum so I am re listing it. I apologize if this appears twice. I just finished building the El Griton 2.2. Everything works fine except my output is less when the pedal is on. I did substitute a few parts until I can get the correct ones. I used a 25K pot instead of 20K, I didn't have .22 tants so I used poly films, I used 470K instead of 510K and I didn't have a 51pf cap, I used the smallest one I had which is still probably too big. All of the controls work other than the problem with the reduced output. Any help would be appreciated.

The parts changes you describe should not affect output volume.

If you get the rigt sound but too low then the main part of the circuit appears to be working. Check the output buffer for bad solder joints, faulty or wrong parts etc. You could even try to bypass the output buffer completely. Connect pin 2 of the volume pot directly to the output and see if that improves the volume.

This happened with my tubescreamer.  I used an audio probe and mapped through the circuit with the schematic, searching for where the volume dropped.  I found the spot and resoldered.  It worked- must have been a bad joint that caused the volume drop.

Well, I found that I had the wrong value of resistor in the output stage. I replaced it and still have the same results. I retraced everything and checked the values of all of the resistors. Still no luck. I'm getting power to the transistors and the chip. I guess I have to build an audio probe or just wait and make a PCB for this project.
