The Mosfet stage of the Peppermill is fairly simple, so I added it to the end of a 3 stage distortion (Vulcan/Jfet Vulcan/Mosfet) and it has a nice overdriven sound.  I'm thinking that adding it to the end of the Peppermill, or using 3 in series (ala Obsidian) would make a nice sounding distortion (with some cap and between stage resistance tweaking).  I believe Zvex described triple SHO distortion as "Criss/Crossey" or "Blizzardy" as the reason Mosfets are used in his new Box of Rock  I think that is a good discription.   :icon_cool:

Could be cool sounding !
I recently ( few months back) built a circuit that was a Fetzer valve into RM Fface ( fattened up) into
two Jfet OD stages with a tone control, quite flexible and can do anything from "fat n clean"
to downright "Nasty" - like FF on steroids !
I should return to it and make some final "tweaks"
It's called "The Bad Boy Fuzz"  ! :D

Interesting - good idea. Once, I had 2 BSIAB2's - so on one I replaced the first stage with a Fetzer valve (putting a pot on the Q1 bypass cap) - I'm not sure how to describe the sound - kind of a really mean Fender Deluxe. I use that box all the time instead of my TS808.

That's one of the cool things about breadboarding.  You can mix and match different stages to make "Blended" distortions as well as tweak to perfection.   :icon_cool:  Did you ever see the deal Aron did that randomly matched up different stages? :icon_twisted:
