variation in 12AX7 dimensions?

Hey,

Does anyone know if there are any significant variations in tube dimensions between manufacturers? I'm having difficulty shoe-horning a Sovtec 12AX7 into an enclosure (specifically, it's too tall, though not by much) and was wondering whether there were shorter tubes available? I've searched for Datasheets etc here and via Google and can't seem to find any useful info. Does anyone here have any experience?

Might wanna check the sub-mini tubes out. it's the same kind in ZVex's Nanoheads. Pretty handy little firecrackers they are.

Hey,

Yeah they were something I was considering, availablity seems to be the problem though as I live in the UK (and don't have a great deal of experience with tubes anyway). Are any of them a direct replacement for a 12AX7? And are the pin-outs similar? (if you don't know off the top of your head, don't worry - i'll try to find a datasheet for them when I get a minute).
