I must be a block head.  Does anyone make a 0.47 micro farad cap that isnt polarized?  Does it matter?  If not, how do you know from the schematic which side is +/- since its not calling for a polarized cap?

Just search .47 capacitor on mouser.com and you'll get tons (then have to sift through to what you need.....)

Most caps in the .47 value will be non polar althoough you can get then electrolytic. Be careful about the size because they can be large in that value/ Look for 50 or 50 volt ones to make sure they fit on you layout. Unless its perf then you can make them work... "Box" stlye caps are usually smaller if you want to search for them...

Positive goes to the higher voltage is you need to know whaich way it goes in a circuit with a polarized cap.

And in answer to your other question,

           +             -
               I       /
               I     /
--------------I    |-------------
               I     \
               I       \

But even if there is no curved line or a '+' sign to indicate polarity, and polar cap is required, you'll eventually develop an instinct of indicating which side of cap has more voltage on it, and which less. The one with more is the '+' side. Just remember: constant current can't flow backwards in a polarised cap (ironically, the actual bits do but that's another story), so the voltage on '-' pin must be lower than the one on the other.
