I've had a MosBoost for a while now but it's been bothering me that the volume is all bunched up at the last 20% of the pot travel.
I have a 5K Lin as prescribed,is there a better taper choice?,how aboput reverse log (as if I could find one.........)
Thanks

Its way down the page so I thought I'd give it a manual bump...

The important part of the thread Jack posted above is that SmallBear will be stocking the 5k reverse linear taper pot. The bad news is you, me and all the rest of planet stompbox will have to wait untill after New Years 2007 to get one.

Its worth the wait. That darn pot is the only thing holding this excellent booster back.
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith

So we wait 'till after new year.........

The gain of the BS170 is varied by the pot that connects a 100uf cap to ground.  When tied directly to ground, it provides a full-band boost comparable to the way cathode caps to ground do in tube amps.  If the cap value is smaller, the bandwidth where the boost takes place starts to become restricted at the low end, such that much smaller caps apply that boost only to mids and treble.

Question:  Suppose we had a 10k pot, with the wiper tied to ground.  One outside lug went to the 100uf cap, and the other lug went to a 1uf or perhaps .47uf cap.  In the middle position, there would be no additional boost.  Rotated towards the larger cap, we'd get full range boost as normal, but rotated towards the smaller value cap, we ought to, in principle, get a treble boost.  Is that a reasonable suggestion?

I used a 10KC pot and it was equally fine, and readily available.....
