I just went pawnshopping, and picked up a busted DOD FX65 Stereo Chorus for $10. I have a CE-20 that I got for free and fixed, but I've used my friends FX65 and enjoyed it so much that I figured, "why not sell the CE-20 and make a quick profit?"

Anyhoo, to the problem. When I brought it here and plugged it in, it wouldn't pass any signal. Once I took it all out of the enclosure, the pedal worked fine (I'm assuming one of the jacks was shorting onto the PCB). DOD switching systems are notoriously crappy; mine is an excellent case. When I pressed the tactile PCB-mount switch, the gorram thing wouldn't turn off. So I figured maybe that little piece of wire that grounds when the switch is pressed had something to do with it. So I put the switching assembly back in the pedal (left the rest hanging out) and tried again. Same thing...the effect is always on.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of people having the same problems, but I couldn't find anything useful when I searched. Has anyone repaired a DOD switching system before that can point me to common problems? Or, does anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong?

EDIT: Found a post where mark hammer pointed to his website and said: "That should let you know what parts are the switch and what aren't.  As a rule of thumb, you've got the 4007, the NPN transistor, the FETs, the diodes, 1M resistors and caps to ground that lead up to them.  Everything else will be effect circuit."

I'll see what I can find on his page. Continued suggestions still appreciated.

Figured it out. Bad switch. Took one out of an XBox controller and it works dandy now.  ;D

A fool and his money were lucky to get together in the first place.
