Voxbaby?

I've got 2xVox wahs and a crybaby.  Don't have model numbers, but they were all purchased new in the mid-lat 90s.  I can get model #s if necessary...

The idea I have is to cram the guts from the crybaby into one of the vox enclosures and have access to either of the two wah circuits in a single pedal.  I was thinking I could add two more jacks in a "half-normaled" configuration.  Each wah circuit has its own dedicated output.  If you plug into one of the input jacks (call it A), the signal splits and runs through each of the wahs, if you plug into B you get only wah B (probably the crybaby), if you plug into both inputs, each of these signals goes independently to it's own wah.  The one pot and switch control both circuits.

I think i can figure out the jack switching that would be required for this, but if anybody's got ideas, I'm all ears.

The questions:

1)  I intend to have the signal buffered before it hits this monstrosity.  The rest of my pedal board is boss and dod boxes, so they are all buffered on their own.  Will I need to buffer the input before the split happens?

2)  Will I need more than a single 9V DC power source?  I figure since I'm already drilling for jacks I might as well add a DC in, so I can get away from the battery all together.

3)  BIG Question A - How do I get the one pot to control each of the two wah circuits?

4)  BIG Question B - what about the bypass switch?

For the time being, this will be used in a recording situation, so switching between the two wahs can be accomplished by replugging.  Eventually I'll probably build a secondary box that does some sort of A/B/Y>C/D/Mix deal, not worried about that right now, though.

In case you're wondering why in the world I would want to do this, I'll tell you.  I'm going to use the (now empty) crybaby shell for a passive volume/tone switch/buffer.

uh...i think the only difference between an 847 and a crybaby is one resistor...so you might want to consider just slapping on a spdt toggle switch to choose between resistors. while youre at it, have a sweep capacitor switch to choose between stock .01 and beefy .015. or a dpdt to switch both at the same time.

but having two entire circuits in one shell is nonsense.

truebypass it and lower the 68k resistor to 47k. that should solve your buffer problem...

search the forum, you'll eventually find more than youre looking for.

;D
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Other differences include a buffer in the crybaby and none in the vox
