Love the sound of the ROG May Queen enough that I'm gonna box her up.  Just a quick question, I have a very high level of top-end hiss, I know its a treble booster so some is expected, but what could drop this a bit, metal film resistors and maybe a change of that optional cap?  Would it be easy to add a gain pot? if so, any ideas where it would go?

lol 2 questions sorry!

Thanks for your help and Happy Christmas to all.

Cheers,
Nick,

OK, shoot me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the 220k feedback resistor could be say, a 250k pot.
I'm not 100% sure and it may need a "minimum" value fixed resistor at Q2 end, like 22k or something
in series with the pot.
So could be base Q2 - 22k - 250k pot - J201 source ... ?
And yes, try a larger cap as suggested in the schemo, or include a 3n3 cap to ground
before the output.

For gain control: install a 1k pot in series with the 2.2uF capacitor on the J201's source.

For less hiss: place a small cap (47pF to 470pF) between drain and gate of the J201. Will need to adjust to your liking.

hi, iv built the queen treble booster and i fired it up. The sound it produced was not what i expected. it was just louder and slightly distorted. I was expecting a big overdrive brian may sound. it could be a faulty component, if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appriciated. toby
