I inherited a real nice DMM by Triplet, which worked beautifully.  Unfortunatey, those things aren't exactly shock proof.  And when I dropped mine on the tile floor in my kitchen... well let's just say it wasn't pretty.  So I need a new one, but I'm thinking budget this time around.  Can anyone suggest a DMM that's cheap but still works really well?

  I got them at "Marc's" discount store for a guilt ridden 3.88, they work 'good', there are more accurate ones, this has an Hfe checker too.

It depends on where you are. Harbor Freight has their baby multimeter on sale now for $2.99 per today's catalog. Item 90699-1HRH at www.harborfreight.com.
