Is this Idea completely foolish? has it been done.

I'm fairly new to the diy effects community, as in I've built a feedback loop/true-bypass pedal, a little gem, and a bazz fuss.  After building the feedback loop, I had an epiphany: what if I were to place a mini-amp circuit at the send of a feedback loop pedal and then place a electret microphone with preamp at the return.  The microphone would be extended and movable much like the ledicle of a thingamableep, giving you the ability to place it at what ever proximity and angle in correlation to the mini-amps speaker.  I did a test run with a sm57 and the little gem through the feedback loop pedal and came up with some squeeling insanity, that was somewhat controllable.  I guess the question's are: has this been done before? Is this completely ridiculous? Kind I find a way around only feedbacking high frequencies?

One other thought. I thought It might be possible to have the mic and pre-emp separate (meaning the mic would have a 1/4" plug attached to the end and the preamp would be contained within the pedal with a 1/4" input jack).  This would allow me to place any effect I would like after the mic and before the preamp/return.  Thanks for any replies.

Yep, but thats never stopped people. ;)

You would likely want to use a low-pass filter

I believe there is a project floating around called the Pipe Bomb(?) that does this, but inside a hunk of PVC pipe for a reverb(or something) effect.
I am not responsible for your imagination.
