Pretend it's a first stage of a bassman amp. ::)

I tend to think the fetzer still sounds better than you in the circuit, even if you're a good pretender. :D

Not familar with the *Bassman* Fetzer, but the original Fetzer is based on the first tube stage of a number of Fender amps, and uses JFETS to roughly model the functions the tubes served in the original design. As for what it *does*, it is another gain stage, that depending on where in the signal chain you use it, can impart some *Fender-ish* qualities to your tone, while adding some drive/ grit. A pretty cool little circuit, that I strongly recommend as a tube amp *enhancer*. Back in the dark ages of the 70's, I worked at a music store (The Instrument Exchange, in Cambridge, MA), and our stock answer to the "what does this pedal do?" question was, "It makes your guitar sound wicked good!

Bassman fetzer is just the fetzer that is based on a blackface Bassman schem, in terms of values, and the bass/treble controls.

so do you guys use this in the same box as another effect?

do you just wire the inputs and outputs in parallel, or do you do it in series?

neat.

I have no idea what exactly you're trying to do, but this particular circuit, if you are referring to the one in my gallery and Dragonfly's layouts, I designed it to be basically a preamp/slight boost. It, like the Fetzer, can be built and used stand alone or as an input stage to something else.

I do not understand what you are trying to accomplish by putting it in parallel with another effect. I suppose it could be wired in series with another booster in front of the boost.

i just thought it would be interesting to see if i could wire it parallel to another effect in the same box.  perhaps make the controls of the two effects interactive.

i guess doing them in series would be just as good, i just thought may be it would be cool...

Well, by all means go ahead and try it. I make no promises about the results, though. It DOES sound good if you run signal to it then straight into another effect in series, the whole point is to do some tone shaping, run with something next to boost that result sounds good.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.
