Adding a trimpot to FET Preamp Cable output

I've just finished building Tillman's FET Preamp Cable.
It works perfectly, I like it a lot.
But....
... the output volume is too much. Would be possible to add an internal trimpot to act as a 'volume pot' (in the standard lug configuration: 1 - from circuit output, 2 - to output jack, 3 - ground)?
Which trimpot value should i choose?

Thanks.

A 50k trimmer setup as a regular volume control, replacing the 51k output resistor (R2) should work.

I've been thinking about building a preamp cable myself, and that's what I would try. I would also replace the 6.8k bias resistor (R1) with a trimpot to be able to adjust it for different FETs and different voltages.

Already done  ;)
Instead of swapping fets i used a 50k trimpot!
