More Diode Clipping Options

We've used just about every diode clipping method...  there couldn't be more...  how about mixing mosfets and zeners?

Thanks Jack for your ever growing list of articles, tips, and stuff in general.
I have yet to experiment with all the clipping mods you show, BUT I made the super buffer, and it´s super good, makes guitar into the mixer super clear!
Did I say super?  :icon_mrgreen:

I like to use this method and I'm not real sure what it is doing, but I think it's assymetrical and sounds fuzzy.
Input  o----|<----o Output
-|<- This is the diode, | is cathode. < is anode.
Input is proceded by a booster of some kind.

It looks like that method will produce a crossover-type distortion on one side of the signal.   Usually quite harsh but if you like it then go with your ears!  :icon_smile:

I had built your mosfet boost and was trying many different clipping methods. This way sounded the best to me (but definately not for everyone). I thought it had a very good classic fuzz-tone sound to it. Actually if you've ever seen the old $3 Fuzz schematic it uses a diode positioned the same way. Also what do you mean by crossover?

Might checkout some of these Supertex Mosfets for a lower clipping theshold.  Also remember, that using Jacks suggestions in a Dist+ type circuit will result in op amp clipping in addition to those shown if the gain is cranked to much.  You may be able to hear it when it begins to happen.   :icon_cool:
