Yamaha Flanger pedal-fuse disguised as resistor?

I've got this Yamaha flanger from a friend who wants me to have a look at it. The problem is it doesn't flange.
I get an unaffected guitar signal in either bypass or effect mode. The status light comes on when the pedal is depressed but that's all. It does this with a battery or adaptor.
I've had it apart and checked for the usual suspects but everything seems fine. That's when I saw this tiny 1/8 watt resistor like looking thing that connects between the + terminal of the DC in jack and the the bottom plate of the pedal.
It looks like a resistor in that it has 2 red stripes, followed by 1 orange and 1 white stripe. I've never seen that order before.
I thought it might be a 22k resistor but I getr no reading when I measure it. A colleague of mine at work suggested that it might be a miniature fuse. If that's the case it's definately burned out although it doesn't appear burned out.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me please? The pedal itself is in very good condition otherwise.
Thanks,
B.

Well, if it's a fuse, and it wasn't working, you'd have an open connection.  If there's no continuity across it, and your meter reads open, than if it's a fuse, it's a blown one.

I have a few Yamaha flangers - what's the model number ?
I have an FL-01 from the PSE series and an FL-10M-black and purple ugly thing!

Or, depending how it is wired, it might be a protective zener.

the white stripe makes me think it might be a cap (223 = 0.022uF ceramic)

Hey Marty,

I'll check the model number when I get home but it's definately purple, black, and ugly!
If it's the same, what are the chances of me getting you to open it up and take some measurements? Please?
So. Let's recap. It may be a zener, or cap. I should have a looky loo on the ole innerweb for a schematic of this beast.

Thanks a lot for the replys so far good people.

B , give me a shout and I'll see what I can do, I will open it up and have a look see.
If it's across ground and 9v it must be a diode eh !

Looks to me like a 9.1v zener diode, makes sense as that's the first thing across pwr/ground on
every single Boss/Ibanez/Korg/Yamaha pedal   :D (from similar flanger schematic)
I have zeners which are orange and have 2 x white strips at one end !

Marty.
I checked it out before I came to work. It's model # FL-100. Still black, still purple, and still ugly! Actually it's a very Boss like enclosure.
So it might be a Zener eh? Hmmm.
Thanks!

If it is indeed "just" a reverse protection diode then a 1N4001/4002 will be fine if you have no zeners.
I use 1n4002's on every build along with either 47uf or 100uf filter caps !
