hey guys

im lookign for the best place to buy parts in australia. i am in sydney. i usually use jaycar and put up with their dpdt footswitches.

unfortunatly jaycar recently changed the type of encosure they stock to soanar brand. the soanar brand doesnt have a base that sits flush. in fact you have to go through all the ones in stock to find ones that are not really bad.

also, jaycar does not stock decent pots. would like some short stemmed (non board mount) alpha pots in a decent range of resitance.

is there a decent shop in sydney that stocks:
-original hammond 1590-BB enclosures or ones that have bases that sit flush.
-alpha pots with a short stem (you don't have to hacksaw off) in a variety of resistance.
-3pdt foot switches
-presoldered decent hookup wire

maybe theres an online store that doesnt charge through the nose for shipping based here in aus? smallbearelec.com.au?

any help appreciated :)

cheers

I'm in Sydney. Have given up on Jaycar, DSE etc

I get my parts through Smallbear, Mouser (plan ahead and buy in one lot to save on shipping), Banzai (once again, plan ahead) & eBay.

The only parts I source locally are heavy items. Enclosures through Wiltronics in Victoria, who have reasonable shipping.

Hope this helps you.

Lol, well there you go.  Told ya I knew nothing of the place.

In any case, you're welcome!

I'm in Australia & most of my stuff comes from Altronics directly www.altronics.com.au but, some shops carry their stuff as well. (and their own place in Short St. Auburn NSW). I just got some lovely made in Taiwan boxes from Altronics  In any case, it's a mistake not to have their catalog!
I admit, though, that I'm also a customer of SmallBear, DigiKey, Jameco etc... I'm afraid that stompboxing in Australia takes a bit of planning sometimes. In fact, Dick Smith is about the only place I don't buy from (yeah, I even get stuff from hongkongsuperseller, I'm real happy wiht the slightly used" Dremel!)
Other Australian places: Rockby (in Clayton Victoria) & Wiltronics (Ballarat).

-3pdt foot switches Get them from Aron.. reasonably priced and cheap postage
-presoldered decent hookup wire

maybe theres an online store that doesnt charge through the nose for shipping based here in aus? NO

any help appreciated :)
