Hello all!

A while ago I found a two schematics on this forum for bass distortion; one was the MOS pellet, one was the Love pellet

Wanted to know the tonal differences between the two

Hi!  Those were both my circuits.  Build the Love.  The MOS schemo contains an error (the clippers are connected wrong), and I can't remember what it sounded like either ;D

Ditto that... The search function turns up zilch for some reason.

It was based on the Distortion+ and contained a LM308, red LED, and some other changes too I think (?).  I wouldn't mind seeing the schematic myself ...because I don't have a copy either!  ;D

Oh... yeah, the good ole D+! I built one for bass, used a LM307(yep, not a 308), raised input and output caps, and used very slightly asymetrical clippers(a 914 and a 4148). Has a NIB kinda thing goin'. Actually, it comes pretty close to nailing that sound! Absolutely ROARS on guitar too!

Excuse my ignorance, but what's a NIB?

Nib is a black sabbath tune, from their first album. with an intro including BIG distorted bass lines, the kind that bring a weak man to his knees.

and just to clarify, since ive already hijacked, NIB is NOT nativity in black.

The title refers to drummer Bill Ward's beard. The band called him "Nibby" because they thought it looked like the nib on the end of a pen (Ozzy came up with the nickname when he was stoned). Says Geezer Butler: Originally it was Nib, which was Bill's beard. When I wrote N.I.B., I couldn't think of a title for the song, so I just called it Nib, after Bill's beard. To make it more intriguing I put punctuation marks in there to make it N.I.B. By the time it got to America, they translated it to Nativity In Black.
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

Jeeze, that just answered a question that's only puzzled me for... 30 years or so!
