I'm so excited right now I'm actually vibrating.
I've read several posts about the "lucky enclosure find".
Well today, it's my turn to luck out.

At a flea market where you might also find your old stolen bike or laptop I found a cool foot controller from the 1980's.
Talked it down from $20 to $15.00 and got the heck outta there. Score!

Ibanez Intelligent foot controller IFC60.

Is there any reason why
I shouldn't tear this apart and create my ultimate DIY project?  :icon_twisted: :icon_wink: :icon_twisted:
What ever that would be.  :icon_question:

It has a 6-pin DIN connector with four wires.
Maxon footswitch assemblies and three digit LED display.
I'm betting It uses some kind of Ibanez protocol to send signals to another Ibanez circuit inside some 1980's guitar synth, to switch patches.
Not MIDI or anything I could tap into.

There is more than enough room inside for a large number of circuits.

The largest chip at 40 pins is labeled Maxon MN8104D
Other chips are
NEC D71051C
Mitsubishi M74LS393P
TI J610BJK
TI J605A

It's heading for gutting and to be reborn, but as what?

What, what?

What could it be? So many choices.
It will have to use some electronic bypass system to use the Maxon footswitches. B*SS?

I would appreciate any suggestions, no matter how strange or pratical.
I'm too over-whelmed and excited to think straight.

And in the off chance its worth more than $15 bucks I'll spare its life.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith

Someone who has the rack unit that would go to might kill for one.  I know that some of the MXR rack units (the OMNI ones) do not work without the foot controller.  You might be able to make a killing from two desperate souls looking to control their Ibanez rack units.

Looks pretty minty fresh there. I say you should look up the ebay price and not get your hands dirty, sell it! . Cool score but not a lot of room in there for FX at any rate. And the switches are going to be a litle fidly...

The "sweetest" part of this whole deal may be your return if you ebay it!  :icon_razz:

Agreed with above posts. There have been several Ibanez units being sold without the foot contoller. I'm sure you'd get top dollar for this.

Here's a beat-to-s**t model that went for $22.  It's got a midi converter and AC adaptor, but you get the idea.

Are you doing any AVR/PIC stuff?  It would be a perfect candidate for remote switching some DIY effects, but that could be a long hill to climb.
