In my various scavenging ventures I've come across some odd looking caps

They look like a roll of foil in a glass case. Are they particularly good for anything, or especially crappy?
Thanks.

polystyrene!

good stuff. what values do you got?
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Polystyrene are some of the best caps out there. Their only downsides are cost (unless you're recycling ;)) and sensitivity to heat.

People use these for wahs I've seen, eh?

Are they made new still?  Anybody got a handy Mouser pt. #?

I've recycled a few of these but, the ones I've gotten have been chicklet shaped not round  :icon_confused:

What did you get these out of?

They came from a 70's all-in-one home stereo. Got a bunch of GE trannys as well. :)
Will have to look and see what values are there.

Those are polystyrene caps.

Good: great spec's, sound and ratings.

Bad: they fail as noisy or intermittent and fail more often than other caps.

Best for tone networks and I use them on the input of the treble boosters I build.
