Hello guys, i would like to build a Sam Ash Fuzz Boxx clone. Does the 2N3565 tranny have a guarantied gain or do i have to get a bunch and select some special pieces ... ?

the datasheet says the hfe is anywhere between 150 and 600
so I guess it take a couple of them, try them out and use whatever sounds best to your ears

2N3565...has a nice ring to it.
 I'd guess this is an NPN si.
 Probably alot like other NPN Si's, varying in gain somewhat from one to the next, not leaking much at all, less gain variance from one piece to the next than Ge transistors.
 attain 4 or 6 unless someone posts about the SA circuit, saving you a buck or two until you find a use for them extras.
 maybe something written about using Low Gain Transistors piqued your curiosity?
 Always a gamble, ..laying odds that after 4 transistors pulled out of a hat, the next four would not differ in Hfe compared to the first 4 by more than
+/- 10%...gotta leave at least some chance of winning to make in interesting.
