Some more Thing Modulator questions...

Hey everyone, I posted a query about the chip from the thing modulator about a week or two ago. Now I have some more questions!

Will the circuit work with the LM567 chip rather than the LMC567 - I mean, even if it sounds rubbish? I just wanted to make it work before I get hold of the CMOS version so I know I have a working circuit and all I need to do when it arrives it re-socket it.

Also, is the 100mF capacitor electrolytic? I assume it is... if so what is the correct polarity? I'm looking at this layout: http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album20/THING_MODULATOR_VERO. Plus, I can't find a schematic for this one to work out for myself.

I've built the circuit but no luck with results at the moment. I've got a clean bypass but silence once the effect is engaged. I thought perhaps answers to the above questions may help me. I've guessed the capacitor orientation  :-\ and used the wrong chip so far.  :-\ . I suppose someone is going tell me that's the reason why...

Thanks for your help!

The schem is here:

Tons of great stuff on that page.

It should work with a LM567, but it will have a lot of carrier bleed-thru.  If you want help troubleshooting, you need to follow the instructions in the Debugging thread.

Mwaha! Thanks very much that's perfect.

And fast reply!!  :)

with a regular LM567 remove the 100k resistor between 9V+ and the IC 9V+ pin.
instead connect a 5k pot and adjust for maximum performance.
It's supposed to sound that way.

Interesting indeed... i'll try that one and tell you how it goes.
