ok so i just put together a foxx tone machine according to the vero layout in the layout page and...no sound.  I checked the voltage and I'm getting the same amount on the whole board as my battery puts out.  Also normally when you touch 2 grounds together they don't pop, right?  Well I'm getting popping when I touch the 9v- to ground.  PLUS, I checked with an audio probe and the sound never makes it past the base of the first transistor!  I switched transistors, too.  I checked all my cut traces on the board and they were clean.
OK any help would be greatly appreciated...I need to have this finished by tomorrow night! :icon_eek:

solder bridges, 90% of the time it is a solder bridge, which allows current through entire circuit. check for a bridge from source to ground.

ok checked for bridges and there were none.  just to be sure i ran an exacto knife up and down the spaces in between the strips and re-sliced my trace cuts.  I replaced Q1 and now i'm getting some better voltage readings, i think?  9.04v going in, still getting 9.04 on ground...
Q1 - E .14  B .73  C 2.21
Q2 - E 1.64  B 2.21  C 7.41
Q3 - E .79  B 6.94  C 9.04
Q4 - E .2  B .76  C 5.76

none of those look right to me, post a link to the schem and layout you used. IIRC, average voltage diff between base and collector in this application is about .6 v. i could be worng about that though...

ok i switched up Q3 and the voltages I'm getting are OK, compared with the voltages posted on the GGG foxx tone machine build instructions  http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/instructions/ftm_inst.htm    I used the layout from Aron's layout page  http://aronnelson.com/gallery/Toneys-Album/Foxxv4?full=1
I'm getting on 9.04v
        E      B     C
Q1  .14    .73  2.21
Q2  1.64 2.21  7.41
Q3  .2     .76   6.86
Q4  .2     .76   5.76   this is the only one that looks a little strange in the B/C really
still not getting any sound, though...
