Congratulations!    Eddie would be proud!

I totally love the separate switch board and how you also got the LED on there too. Great!

That build gets you bragging rights and deserves it's own build report thread.
Tell us more outside of the pictures thread. The DIY history archive demands it!

Thanks Pushtone!

Nothing would be possible without you guys!
All of the guys here and this Forum has made this work possible!

Anyway this is my firstt ime writting build report so bare with me.
Umm nothing much to write ....
I used teh schematics from Tonepad and worked on it. I made my own layout and It was damn hard to get everything working! All the parts were bought from smallbear, probably cost me around $40-45.
There were lots and lots of soldering involved, I should say I was fortunate none of the parts got damaged by the soldering heat.

I placed the circuit in a Tin choclate box which cost me $4 including choclate.haha
Then drilled it with screws and made holes for everything. Then I designed the graphics in Photo shop. Printed it in  white chart paper and sticked plastic tape on top and bottom and then sticked to box with some glues. There were lots of measurement included which almost gave me headache.

The switch and wiring was another intense headache. I had nowhere to stick the switch to the box. I should have used rotary switch with screws to attach it to the box,

I also had really hard time putting it into the box, as I didnt get enough space.
Talking about the sound, Its super awesome, never heard such powerfull distortion till now. This thing beats METAL ZONE by miles.
I have to say who ever designed this circuit made a master piece!

Probably I will sell this in ebay next week. Now, I have to collect some money for my own design.haha

Anyway here are some sound clips. Please ignore my sloppy playing.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith

HI,

Congrats for your build!

However I have issues with the link to the samples you posted... they want me to install a Windows only tool bar to download stuff from them while I am using Linux but I might be using a Mac as well... please consider http://media.putfile.com the next time thanks. Notice that I wouldn't have bothered to install it even if I was using Windows  :icon_mrgreen:

I'd really like to hear your samples since I went the lazy way and bought a Behringer GDI21 for 25 bucks (it's a second hand unit).
It would be cool to compare the 2 units.

Cheers,

you don't need to download the toolbar, you just have to wait about a minute for the stupid counter to finish, then you can download the file, and you get the fun of closing all the bloody popups and adverts  :icon_mrgreen:
That is about the worst download site I've ever seen. You do know that if you've got a gallery here you can upload soundclips?

Izzy

Ok here is the download link for you. You shouldnt have any trouble with this one.
And let me know if you like the sound. They are 100% dry signal.

Got 'em, thanks for the new link  ;D

As far as the differences between your build and my stock GDI21... well... I can't hear any!
They sound pretty much the same to me. I have been playing with the switches setup as the sound files suggested and the same was very similar, if not identical.
Someone reported the GDI21 being more boomy sounding, with lots of bass, but I can hear a similar bass content on your build as well. The differences might be very subtle and lie in the clean/crunch settings I guess.
Again congrats for your new baby it sounds pretty good   :icon_biggrin:

I  don't think it's necessary for me to record samples, I'll just do so later though if you wish.

Happy '07!

Izzy

Yeah sure I would Love to hear it!  ;)

OK, here are some samples I recorded while still being drunk from the new year's party  :icon_redface::

On the British settings clip I have dimmed the gain some from the guitar's volume knob at some point.

Hey, is that some "Painkiller" I hear at the begining of one of those first samples in the .zip file?  Nice.

100% dry signal, you mean right from the Sansamp into whatever you recorded with?  If so, the sounds are remarkably nice compared to what I'm used to for direct-recorded distortion.   I've been meaning to box up my build of this for recording some scratch tracks to give the rhythm section an idea of the new songs I'm working on.

Nice Pics ! Thanks for sharing them !
I can't comment / soundclips are prohibited by WIndows, a Licensed, re-re-verified Copy ..micro tease !!

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Izzy

wow those clips were cool gzed!
But I dont know why Sansamp sounded more natural to me.  :D

Thanks sfr for liking it. Yes there was a small part of "Painkiller" haha
Yes and they are recorded straight grom sansamp.

Thanks petemore for the feedback, if you know any web space where I can upload it for you, please letme know I would be happy to do it.
